Rex Allen Stobbs, long time resident of McCoy, passed away in Three Oaks on August 23, 2019 at the age of 58. Rex was born in Floresville on March 12, 1961 to Edward Stobbs and Ruby Lee (Valcher) Stobbs.
Rex grew up on the family farm located half way between McCoy and Poth. He graduated from Pleasanton High School where he was active in the FFA. As a young man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and dancing and lived a simple life farming with his father. After the passing of his parents, he continued to manage the family farm and engage in other employment. He operated as an independent contractor who did farm work in the local community. For the last six years, he worked for Salvador Martinez in his fence building business. Salvador and his family became very special in his life.
His is preceded in death by his father, Edward Stobbs, his mother, Ruby Lee (Valcher) Stobbs and his brother, Delward “Bugger” Stobbs.
He is survived by his sister, Willene Stobbs-Thomas and brother-in-law, Donald Thomas; his sister-in-law, Pat Harrison; and his nephews and spouses, Dwayne and Maggie Stobbs, Brian and April Stobbs, Kevin and Niki Stobbs and Manny and Chelsea (Boe) Thomas. A celebration of Rex’s life will be held later this fall.
