Recycling 101

The Way I See It

I’ve had a few people contact us here at the Pleasanton Express to find out more on our recycling options in Pleasanton.

A quick phone call to city hall and our City Secretary Andres Aguirre has us filled with information.

Aguirre confirmed the schedule and what is acceptable.

“Recycling occurs every two weeks. You can set out the recycle bin alongside your trash bin,” shared Aguirre.

The schedule may be viewed on the City of Pleasanton’s site on the home page’s calendar tab. Scroll over or wait until the calendar icon appears and click. It just so happens to be this week. Click on that event and the acceptable recycling materials are listed there.

I’ll save you some time and include them here as well, but it’s nice to know it can be found online at www.pleasantontx. gov/calendar.php.

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS

Cans – clean aluminum, tin/ steel containers.

Cardboard – clean boxes, clean box stuffers, envelopes, drink containers

Newspaper – clean, dry unsoiled newspaper

Plastic – PETE & HDPE containers (milk jugs, soft drink containers)

ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS!

For questions about recycle pick-up please call 830-569-3867 opt. 2.

I’m not sure why glass is not accepted, but I don’t have a lot of glass items (I save many of my jars and use them to store leftovers etc.)

The way I see it, with our larger bins that we now have, there really isn’t a reason to NOT recycle. And while I may not get it to the curb every other week, it is done when I think about it.

To be a bit kinder on our planet we should all plan to recycle.
