Recovery is a neverending journey that encompasses a multitude of twists, turns, obstacles and hurdles. Recovery includes abstaining from drugs and alcohol, while maintaining sobriety through life changes. While there are multiple definitions when describing recovery, The Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration defines recovery as “A process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.”
Life after addiction requires adjustments that may affect every aspect of a person’s life. During the addiction stage, a person who engaged in repetitive substance use behavior, may have negatively impacted their physical health, behavioral health, and overall wellbeing. Making adjustments may seem to be unattainable. However, taking the right step towards sobriety may assist you in reaching your full potential to maintain abstinence.
During recovery, you could improve your quality of life by engaging in meaningful and fulfilling activities that will improve positive social relationships that may have been broken. You may also improve overall well-being bt engaging in healthier life-style choices. This may include attending support groups and maintaining easy access to your support system to aid in your ongoing recovery. One-Eighty is here to assist you in your journey towards recovery. One- Eighty provides a medical withdrawal management service, a referral service to ongoing treatment and recovery centers, and follow up with patients for one year for added support, in their recovery journey.
