Recognizing our local law enforcement

National Police Week May 10-16

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. This year National Police week is this week, May 10-16.

Normally, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many events during Police Week are being cancelled (or postponed) in 2020.

The Pleasanton Express wants to recognize the hard work, dedication and sacrifice of our local law enforcement departments in Atascosa County.

If you can, take the time this week to thank one of our many local law enforcement officers. They are here to protect and serve our communities, especially during these unprecedented times.

From the Pleasanton Express, thank you to all of our LEOs at the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office, Pleasanton Police Department, Jourdnaton Police Department, Poteet Police and Lytle Police Department.
