Rebecca J. Barnett
Rebecca J. Barnett, 37, of Pleasanton, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Far more fierce than her inspiring fight was her all-encompassing dedication and love for her two children, Hunter and Brandi.
Becky was born April 7, 1980 in San Antonio. After graduating from Pleasanton High School in 1998, she married her high school sweetheart. The two enjoyed many Marine Corps adventures before returning to Pleasanton to raise their family.
Becky was full of life and brought joy and inspiration to those she loved. She made those around her feel special, but she committed her true and full devotion to her children who were the central focus and pride of her life. She was a bright and shining face that served the citizens of Atascosa County as a Deputy Assessor Collector in the Tax Office for many years. Her endearing laugh and playful spirit will be deeply missed.
Becky is survived by her two children, Hunter Barnett and Brandi Barnett; the childrens father and her best friend, Jeremiah Barnett; her mother, Terrye Ximenez and Alfred Gonzales; her brother, Jayson Meyer and sister-in-law Anne Meyer; loved ones, Mary and Frank Paniagua; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cherished friends. Her father, Lee Roy Meyer preceded her in death.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. A celebration of Beckys life will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Hurley Funeral Chapel with burial following in St. John Lutheran Cemetery on Willow Street in Jourdanton.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to support the educational pursuits of Beckys children, Hunter and Brandi.
Memorial gifts can be directed to the Hunter and Brandi Barnett Fund, c/o Atascosa National Bank, P.O. Box 250, Pleasanton, TX 78064.
