The Jourdanton Volunteer Fire Department will host the 26th annual Malvin Prasifka Cook-off at the American Legion Hall (1404 Zanderson, Jourdanton). The three-day event starts Friday night with a Cook’s Choice competition for the BBQ contests. Entry fee is $20 and a 50/50 split for first place will be awarded. Meat turn in is at 7 p.m. and dessert turn in is at 7:45 p.m.
On Saturday, Jackpot Pinto Beans will pay 50 percent of what is entered. Turn-in time for this event will be 11 a.m.
For the IBCA sanctioned BBQ Cook-off (you don’t have to be a member to compete), turn in will be 12 noon for chicken, 1:30 p.m. for pork spare ribs and 3 p.m. for brisket. The fee to enter is $125 for one or all meats.
The Chili Cook-off (chili grind only) will be held on Saturday and Sunday. A $35 entry fee for both days or $20 for one day will be collected. Turn in times are 2 p.m on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
There will also be a live auction held on Saturday after the judging and awards featuring many items that have been donated for the event.
