A Poteet football player is taking his talents down under.

Rising senior Timothy Carrasco was selected to participate in the Down Under Bowl, a football game in Brisbane, Australia. The bowl is put on by Down Under Sports as part of the organization’s summer tournaments.

“It’s a once in a lifetime thing that I’m going to get to experience,” Carrasco said. “I’m really excited to go and represent in the Land Down Under.”

Carrasco will spend 10 days in Australia, leaving Sunday. The Down Under Sports tournaments include competition in cross country, golf, track and field, basketball and volleyball.

As part of the experience, Carrasco and fellow participants will visit the Great Barrier Reef.

Carrasco, who was invited to the competition in late April, is an offensive lineman for the Aggies. He will be playing with kids from across the U.S., Australia and New Zealand.
