Poteet Strawberry Festival planned for April 9-11, details to come later

Following cancellations in the spring and fall of 2020 due to coronavirus concerns, the annual Poteet Strawberry Festival is back on and scheduled for Friday-Sunday, April 9-11.

The bright poster featuring a strawberry in Western attire with 2021 dates was posted on the Poteet Strawberry Festival Facebook page on Jan. 18. Over 1,000 comments have been posted in response to the announcement since then, with a mixture of both favorable and negative posts.

Attending the one-ofa kind celebration, which dates back to 1948, is a tradition that so many treasure. As of press time, the Poteet Strawberry Festival Association has not released details about the Strawberry Show and Judging Contest, nor what specific events will be part of this year’s festival. This includes the parade, large carnival and entertainment.

The association works all year round to produce the best annual festival in the state of Texas, promote the Poteet strawberry industry and enrich the local economy. They also provide the opportunity for civic, church and school groups to earn much-needed funds, promote the community and award scholarships to graduating seniors.
