Poteet officers take drugs off streets




Poteet Police Officer Maldonado allegedly found Willie Soto Jr., 44, in possession of a .380 pistol, bullets and 29 packets of meth during a traffic stop.

Poteet Police Officer Maldonado allegedly found Willie Soto Jr., 44, in possession of a .380 pistol, bullets and 29 packets of meth during a traffic stop.

Poteet is 29 packets safer after a traffic stop in Poteet around midnight on Wednesday.

Officer Maldonado initiated a traffic stop in Poteet. Poteet Police say that Willie Soto Jr., 44, and Willie Soto IV, 20 were in the car and allegedly neither Soto had driver’s licenses. When Officer Maldonado searched the vehicle he allegedly found 29 packets of methamphetamine, a .380 semiautomatic pistol and eight .380 bullets. The items were alleged to be in Willie Soto Jr.’s possession.

Officer Maldonado issued Willie Soto IV was a citation and impounded their vehicle. Willie Soto Jr was booked into the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office and was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance – Penalty Group 1: 4-200 grams and Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Felon. His bond was set at $30,000 and he is currently out on bail.
