The City of Poteet is actively monitoring and are keeping abreast to the changing conditions of COVID-19. To avoid exposing city staff, court personnel and citizens to the threat of COVID-19, the City of Poteet Municipal Court, in response to the Supreme Court of Texas and the Court of Criminal Appeals of Texas Emergency Order No. 20-007 issued on Friday, March 13, the City of Poteet will follow the following procedures:
- The City of Poteet will modify or suspend any and all deadlines and procedures, whether prescribed by statute, rule or order, for a stated period of time ending no later than 30 days after the Governor’s state of disaster has been lifted.
- The City of Poteet will take any other reasonable action to avoid exposing court proceedings to the threat of COVID-19 and reset all March and April court cases.
- The City of Poteet will extend the statute of limitations in any civic case to include city code violations for a stated period ending no later than 30 days after the Governor’s state of disaster has been lifted.
- The Order is effective as of March 16, 2020 and expires May 8, 2020, unless extended by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas.
