Poteet travelled to Crystal City Friday night for their second win of the season.

After Crystal City tied the game in the first quarter, the Aggies scored 48 unanswered points to win 55-7.

After his dominant performance in week one, senior Ernest Davila ran for 112 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries. Junior Alexander Lockamy threw for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Martin Ibarra led the team in receiving with 110 yards and a touchdown on seven receptions. Poteet’s offense amassed 431 yards.

Coming into the game, Head Coach Darby House said they were going to throw a couple passes towards Ibarra.

“He was going to be single covered for most of the night and we had to get him the ball,” House said. “He’s got to make things happen once he’s in space and he did a great job of that. One of the reasons he had a big game was because everybody’s eyes were in the box and looking at Ernie in the backfield.”

The Aggies were stout defensively throughout the contest, limiting Crystal City to only 34 total yards. Seniors Jaythan Zuniga and Moumen Eltigani each recovered a fumble.

Poteet will take on Lake Belton Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Both teams enter the game with a 2-0 record.

“They’re a good football team,” House said. “They do a lot of things well and they’ve got some talent. We’re looking forward to a great game Friday night.”
