Poteet hires new City Administrator

Mayor Raul “Roy” Ybarra welcomes Scott Moore, Poteet’s new City Administrator. Moore’s employment agreement was approved at the January 7 meeting. He will begin his new duties on January 28.

The City of Poteet is proud to announce the selection of their new City Administrator. The City Council enthusiastically and unanimously has offered the position to Scott Moore of Glenn Heights. The selection process began in july 2012 with the City Council establishing a professional profile of what Poteet needed in its next administrator. The City received 79 applications and the City Council interviewed the final six candidates, four from Texas and two from out of state, December 14 and December 15.

Mr. Moore has experience as City Manager or as Assistant City Manager in Peoria, IL, Wichita, KS, Ellsworth and budget analyst in Austin. The City Council recognized his excellent expertise in police, public works, economic development, personal management and overall management style as a beneficial fit for Poteet. He has been involved in the community in YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers and Sisters programs, afterschool tutoring, Kiwanis International and has assisted high school football players with football training agility drills.

He has his Bachelor’s degree from Texas State University at San Marcos where he also played wide receiver. His Masters of Public Administration is from Wichita State University, Kansas.

The City Council approved Mr. Moore’s employment agreement at the January 7, 2013 council meeting. He will begin his new duties January 28, 2013. The City Council looks forward to working with Mr. Moore on current city projects and programs, while establishing progressive new goals with the administrator for the business, pro-active future for Poteet.
