Poteet experienced the highs and lows of volleyball last week. On Aug. 31, the Lady Aggies swept the South San Antonio West Lady Cougars in straight sets on the road. On Friday night the Lady Aggies were swept in straight sets at home by the Lytle Lady Pirates.
The Lady Aggies’ trip to San Antonio on last Tuesday began with a 25-5 win in the first set against the Lady Cougars.
Poteet won the second set 25-16 and the third set 25-13 to claim their second win in district play.
Coral Rios led the Lady Aggies against South San West with 12 assists as well as three kills and two aces. Taryn Garcia finished with a team high in kills (16) and blocks (3) as well as three assists. Amanda Gomez led the Lady Aggies with two digs to go with three assists and two aces.
On Friday night the Lady Aggies saw their fortunes reversed. Poteet lost a back-and-forth first set against Lytle 25-19 before losing the second set 25- 18. The Lady Aggies came close to forcing a fourth set, but the Lady Pirates skipped out of town with a 25-21 win in the third set to complete the sweep.
Garcia led the Lady Aggies with eight kills as well as two assists in the loss to Lytle. Aniyah Pequeno added three kills and a dig to the effort and Gomez had one kill. Rios led with nine assists. Ella Shaver, Elise Benavides and Slone Martinez each had two digs.
The Lady Aggies faced Jourdanton last night. Results of that game were not available at press time.
Poteet will host Natalia on Friday night. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
