KINGSVILLE—Pleasanton and Poteet had 20 athletes compete at the Region IV-4A meet Friday and Saturday, but none advanced to state.
The closest to qualifying for state were Pleasanton’s Ayanna Oltivero and Dalton Hobbs, who each placed third in their respective events.
Oltivero ran a 59.71 in the 400 to take the bronze medal. The senior moved into third place in the final 100 meters.
Hobbs, a sophomore, cleared 6-0 in earning third in the high jump. Hobbs, who cleared 6-4 at the area meet a week prior, did not make the 6-2 jump, which was the winning height.
Poteet’s Danica De La Fuente placed fourth in the 200 in a time of 26.43. She was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 17-2.75. The junior also qualified for the finals in the 100, finishing seventh in 12.91.
Fellow Lady Aggie Alina Escamilla took fifth in the 100, running a 12.87.
The Pleasanton 1,600 relay team of Laken McAda, April Findley, Thalia Bosquez and Oltivero advanced to the finals with a fifth-place time of 4:14.34 but disqualified in the finals.
Pleasanton freshman Caitlyn Nieschwitz placed seventh in both the 800 and the 1,600. Poteet junior Bianca Haynes was 13th in the 800.
