Pleasanton Young Farmers’ Cowboy of the Year Open Rodeo and Festival



 

 

A big weekend is ahead at the Atascosa County Showbarn Arena August 15th and 16th. The event starts Friday night at 7 p.m. when the Cowboy of the Year and the South Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame is announced. The Rodeo will start at 7:30 p.m. and following the rodeo Natalie Rose will be performing. The BBQ Cook- Off starts Saturday afternoon and sign up is at 11 a.m. Saturday afternoon there will also be a washer tournament sign up is at noon and the tournament starts at 1 p.m. The Goat Roping sign up is at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The rodeo starts at 7 p.m. Saturday and immediately after the rodeo Mark Chesnutt will performing. Pre-sale tickets are available at Paisley’s and Southern Signs. Admission is adults $10 and ages 6-12 $5, children under five are free.

2nd Annual Innovate, Invoke, Inspire!

If you are looking for something on the creative side check out the 2nd annual innovate, Invoke, Inspire Art Show Saturday August 16th through August 29th at the Longhorn Museum in Pleasanton. The Pleasanton Juried Art Show will have an opening reception and awards ceremony on the 16th from 2-4 p.m. There will be many different artists featured at the event.

Battle of Medina

Everyone is invited to attend the 14th annual ceremony to commemorate the Battle of Medina. This is the 201st anniversary of the bloodiest battle in Texas history. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday August 16th under the large oak trees on Applewhite Rd. Also a seminar will be held at the Pleasanton Church of Christ.
