The Pleasanton Lady Eagles opened their season on the road last Tuesday night when they were at West Campus in San Antonio. The Lady Eagles won that game 72-11.
On Thursday morning the Brush Country Classic began in Pleasanton with the Lady Eagles taking on the Pearsall Lady Mavericks. Pleasanton took an early lead in the first quarter and then held on for a 54-41 win.
After Pleasanton beat Pearsall, it was time for the Uvalde Lobos and Poteet Lady Aggies to take the court at the Pleasanton Sports Complex. Poteet fell to Uvalde, 42-25. Bandera beat Pearsall 45-38 in the third game of the tournament on Thursday. The Jourdanton Squaws began their tournament on Thursday afternoon when they defeated Uvalde 35- 31. After that Pleasanton took on Poteet. The Lady Eagles beat the Lady Aggies 57-21. The final game on Thursday was between Jourdanton and Bandera. The Squaws overpowered the Lady Bulldogs for a 55- 35 victory.
On Friday morning Pleasanton and Jourdanton opened day two of the Brush Country Classic. The Lady Eagles and Squaws played a close game in the first half. Pleasanton led 9-5 after one quarter but Jourdanton outscored the Lady Eagles 11-4 in the second quarter to take a 16-13 lead into halftime. The Lady Eagles took control of the game by outscoring the Squaws 19-2 in the third quarter en route to a 44-29 win.
In the second game of the day Bandera beat Uvalde 41-38. Jourdanton returned to the court for their second game of the day and beat Pearsall 56-37. In the fourth game of the day Poteet fell to Bandera 31-24.
Pleasanton returned to the court for their second game of the day and beat Uvalde 41-34. The final game on Friday was between Poteet and Pearsall. Pearsall won the game 44-26.
On Saturday the tournament concluded with three games. Jourdanton opened the day by beating Poteet 35-16. Pleasanton beat Bandera 35-31 and Uvalde closed out the tournament by beating Pearsall 58-34.
The final standings for the tournament were Pleasanton: 5-0, Jourdanton: 4-1, Bandera: 3-2 record, Uvalde: 2-3, Pearsall: 1-4 and Poteet: 0-5. Pleasanton’s Kennedy Guajardo won tournament MVP.
Pleasanton’s Diamond Brownlee and Sadie McAda were named to the alltournament team.
Poteet’s Jocelyn Orta was also named to the alltournament team.
