The City of Pleasanton will host the “Ready to Work” Collaborative Career Fair in partnership with Coastal Bend College and Workforce Solutions Alamo, on October 4, at the Pleasanton Civic Center.
The career fair will include several local, state, and federal government agencies, private sector companies, and several departments from Coastal Bend College.
Coastal Bend College is conducting outreach to surrounding school districts and inviting high school juniors and seniors to participate in this career fair. “Our goal is to expose our young students to multiple options so they have a plan after high school graduation,” says Dean Julia Garcia of Costal Bend College.
Area residents are encouraged to participate in this free career fair and bring several copies of their updated resumes to present to potential employers. Workforce Solutions Alamo and several employers will be on-hand to assist attendees with job placement opportunities. Pleasanton currently enjoys a 5.5% unemployment, which is one of the lowest rates in South Texas. The steady rise in energy production, access to a local community college, and Pleasanton ISD’s successful graduation rates are all key factors to a low unemployment rate.
“We are very pleased to partner with Coastal Bend College and Workforce Solutions on this collaborative career fair,” says Pleasanton City Manager Johnny Huizar. “This career fair will expose area residents to well-paying jobs that can lead to long-term careers,” adds Huizar.
The Pleasanton “Ready to Work” Collaborative Career
Fair will include two sessions.
•High School Student Session (9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.) 11th & 12th grade students.
•General Public Session (12 p.m. – 3 p.m.).
