The Pleasanton seventh and eighth grade football teams played at home against Devine on Sept. 20.
The eighth grade A team ended up with a 14-14 tie against Devine. The Eagles scored on the opening drive with a seven-yard touchdown by Michael Castillo, who then scored the two-point conversion.
He caught a 45-yard pass from Sean Ramos and then had a three-yard touchdown.
“Offensive standouts were Castillo, Ramos and the entire offensive line. The defense played lights out the entire game against a relentless Colts rushing game. The defense was led by Jayce Krauskopf, Diego Luna, John Van Burkleo, J.D. Guerra and Ricky Alcorta,” said coach Stephen Barron.
The eighth grade B team lost 14-8 to Devine. Bryndan Olle had a big kickoff return followed by a three-yard touchdown run and then a two-point conversion.
“Other offensive standouts were Ecidro Hernandez and the entire offensive line. The Eagles defense played great for the majority of the game and held the Colts out of the end zone late in the game to give the offense one last chance. Defensive standouts were Nick Mix, Xavier Anger, James Arevalo and Froilan Aguirre,” said coach Barron.
The seventh grade A team tied Devine 8-8. The Eagles had multiple sacks and three interceptions, caught by Chance Hehman, Zeke Gonzalez and Joshua Deleos, returned his for a 20-yard touchdown. Jayden Palacios ran the two-point conversion.
“Although the Eagles offensive did not score, there were many standout players, including Andre Garcia and Robert Garcia,” Barron said.
The seventh grade B team beat Devine 14-0. Wylee Tom ran 70 yards for a touchdown on the first offensive play and scored the two-point conversion. Armando Rodriguez ran 50 yards for a touchdown in the second half.
“Other offensive standouts were Levi Turner and the offensive line,” Barron said.
The seventh and eighth grade teams will play at home against Carrizo Springs on Sept. 27.
