Linda Ramey has been an independent insurance business woman since 1982. Linda started her insurance business from her home while working at Pleasanton High School as Secretary to the Counselor up until 1995. This is when she opened up her office in Pleasanton full time and has been in the same location for 25 years.
In addition to running a full-time business, Linda and her husband Randy run a 150-cow/calf operation on her family land that has been in her family for 100 years. She enjoys working and living on their farm/ranch in Blackhill. If having her own business and farm/ranch was not enough, Linda finds time to volunteer and give back to her church, community and the Youth of Texas.
Linda is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Poth. She has been an active member for 60-plus years. For the past six years she has served on the Church Council as Secretary and Treasurer. She also serves as a greeter and usher for the church services, helps decorate the church for Christmas and bakes items when needed for funerals or church gatherings. She also assists with the Annual Church BBQ Fundraiser, Auction and Raffle.
Growing up, Linda was a member of the Atascosa County 4-H program and when her children were old enough, she started volunteering as a Club Manager and Program Leader. She has also served on the Atascosa County Extension Program Council for the past 25 years and currently serves as a board member and treasurer. Honors received include 4-H Mother of the Year Award.
As Linda’s daughters got into high school, she then began to help with the Pleasanton FFA Program. She would help take and chaperone FFA Members to contest, camps and conventions when needed. Linda and her husband Randy, along with others, helped start the Pleasanton FFA Booster Club that is still very active today helping the FFA youth of Pleasanton. Honors received include the Honorary Chapter Farmer Award.
Still today, Linda helps out her grandchildren and friends with the 4-H and FFA projects. She helps sponsor and sell raffle tickets for their clubs and purchases tickets to various fundraising events as well to support, not only her grandchildren, but other youth of Atascosa, Guadalupe and Wilson Counties.
Linda has served as Co-Show Secretary for the Atascosa County Livestock Show since 1990. She puts countless hours in leading up to and during the show to make sure that the youth of Atascosa County have a good experience showing their animals and receiving their awards during the county livestock show each January. As a business owner, she helps support the kids by contributing money toward their sale lots at the Livestock Show Auction. Honors received include a Plaque recognizing her for the many years of hard work and dedication serving the 4-H and FFA Youth of Atascosa County and in 2015 the Atascosa County Livestock Show was dedicated to Linda and her husband along with friends, Alfred and Susan Krueger.
In 1995, Linda became a Lifetime Member and Volunteer for the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. Linda has served on the Poultry Committee for 25 years. She enjoys helping the Youth of Texas with their broiler and turkey projects, plus she gets a front-row seat watching her granddaughters show their turkeys at the show.
As you can see, Linda is a very active and dedicated woman of our community. She doesn’t say, “No,” very often when asked to do or help with something, especially when it comes to the youth of our community.
