Pleasanton High School Student Council, HOSA, NHS and FFA hosted their annual food drive from Nov. 8-18 where over 2,200 nonperishable food items were donated to the Bountiful Blessings Food Pantry in Pleasanton. PHS students purchased $648 in admission money for the Ms. Lingo versus Mrs. Bast sumo fight. Riley Porter presented the funds in the form of a check to Beth Gossett of Bountiful Blessings Food Pantry. Mrs. Gossett shared that on top of the 2,200 items, PHS donated enough money to purchase 6,500 pounds of food for our community. NHS, StuCo, HOSA and FFA also purchased four hams and four turkeys, and put together food items to provide eight families with Thanksgiving meals.
Students brought in over 2,200 items of food. Each food item was also counted as a “vote” for the team of their choosing. Teams were Mrs. Guajardo versus Coach Liska, Mrs. Minniear versus Mrs. Black, Ms. Lingo versus Mrs. Bast and Mrs. Downs versus Coach Salinas. By a majority of votes, Ms. Lingo and Mrs. Bast were chosen to battle it out in sumo wrestler suits!
Mrs. Moos, River Reyes, Jayce Krauskopf, Justin Veale, Luke Raney and Mrs. Lozano delivered all donated food items to The Bountiful Blessings Food Pantry.
