As a new school year approaches, the senior class of 2021 at Pleasanton High School finally gets the opportunity to participate in the longtime tradition of painting their parking spaces.
The seniors are allowed to paint a parking spot by paying a small price of $25 and providing their own supplies such as paint, brushes and rollers along with tape, brooms and, with this Texas heat, a tent or canopy for shade. Along with $25, the students are also required to submit a rough outline of their spot for approval and a form ensuring that no rules will be breached as they were allowed to paint during school hours from Aug. 31-Sept. 4.
Of course, students were also required to wear masks and practice social distancing as a way of stopping the spread of COVID-19. Students have been known to go all out on their spots, expressing their unique style and this year is no exception.
The parking lot is full of bright colors and amazing patterns that show students’ individuality. With this school year being a bit different from previous traditional years, the parking lot is full of color and hope for normalcy for the class of 2021.
