A former Lady Eagle helped her college softball team make history May 5.
Torey Dumont, a 2015 Pleasanton High School graduate, pitched in all three games of the Red River Athletic Conference tournament as University of Houston-Victoria brought home its first conference championship.
The Jaguars entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed.
UHV had a walk-off win in the championship, a 10-9 decision over Texas A&M-Texarkana. Dumont, who entered in the second, allowed two earned runs on four hits in 3.2 innings. She struck out one and walked one.
Dumont had a strong performance in the semifinals to wrap up a 12-4 win over second-seeded Our Lady of the Lake. The junior gave up no runs on three hits in 3.1 innings after taking over for starter Peyton Branham.
To open the tournament, Dumont pitched three innings of relief against Southwest New Mexico. She did not allow an earned run on four hits and two walks.
The conference title advanced UHV to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round Tournament in Gulf Shores, Ala.
