This past weekend the Pleasanton Lady Eagles soccer team hosted their annual Battle in the Brush Country tournament. Teams from all over came to town for the three-day tournament.
Pleasanton opened the tournament Thursday afternoon against the Wagner Thunderbirds. Wagner defeated Pleasanton 2-1. The Lady Eagles goal came from Brylee Miller with Kenley Everett getting the assist.
On Friday morning the Lady Eagles faced the Buda Johnson Jaguars. It was a close game for a half with both teams scoring once in the first half. Miranda Silva scored the goal for Pleasanton with Miranda Silva getting the assist. Johnson then scored three goals in the second half to take a 4-1 win over the Lady Eagles.
Pleasanton got their first win of the tournament on Friday afternoon when they beat the Southside Cardinals 3-0.
From the start the Lady Eagles were on the of- fensive against Southside. Pleasanton finally got a goal 13 minutes into the first half when Grace Keylich scored. Seven minutes later Trinity Garcia made it 2-0 for the Lady Eagles. Pleasanton added a third goal in the second half off of the foot of Kara Medina.
On Saturday morning Pleasanton took on Uvalde but lost the game 2-1. Garcia was the goal scorer for Pleasanton with Brandi Barnett providing the assist.
Pleasanton closed out the tournament as it began, with a game against San Antonio Wagner. This time the Lady Eagles beat the Thunderbirds 1-0.
This past Tuesday Pleasanton hosted the Boerne Lady Greyhounds for a non-district game. Results of that game were not available at press time. Pleasanton will be traveling to Wimberley this Thursday-Saturday to take part in the Wimberley Lady Texan Cup.
The Lady Eagles next home game is not until Jan. 28 when they will face San Antonio Fox Tech.
