Lady Eagles go 3-1 in first half of district 27-4A volleyball

The Pleasanton Lady Eagles wrapped up the first half of their district volleyball season last Friday when they traveled to Gonzales to take on the Lady Apaches.

In the leadup to the game it was a tale of two different teams. Pleasanton entered with a 2-1 record in district. Gonzales entered still looking for their first win in district.

It only took three sets for Pleasanton to claim the victory over the Apaches. The Lady Eagles won the first set 25-17, the second set 25-15 and the third set 25-16.

Sadie McAda led the Eagles with 14 kills as well as five digs and five assists. Victoria Urbanczyk had 12 kills and 14 digs. Tess Underbrink added nine digs and 25 assists.

With the game at Gonzales being their only contest last week the Lady Eagles remained ranked number 10 in the Texas coaches poll for 4A volleyball. Pleasanton held a 31-3 record overall after the win over Gonzales.

Pleasanton’s win over Gonzales gave the Lady Eagles a 3-1 record through the first half of district play. The Lady Eagles found themselves in a three-way tie with La Vernia and Navarro at 3-1 in district. Pleasanton handed Navarro their only loss in district but lost to La Vernia. Navarro beat La Vernia.

 

 

The second half of district began last night with Pleasanton hosting Cuero. This Friday the Lady Eagles will try to avenge their only loss in district when they host La Vernia. Pleasanton will then travel to face Navarro next Tuesday night.
