Pleasanton Express Voter’s Guide submission deadline is Sept. 19



 

 

The Pleasanton Express will publish the General Election Voter’s Guide, Sept. 30.

All city, county and state candidates are welcomed to email a 150-word platform profile and photo to news@pleasantonexpress.com by Saturday, Sept. 19 for inclusion. Each profile and photo will be published for free. If a candidate would like to purchase ad space, we are providing that opportunity as well. Election Voter’s Guide will be made available via the Sept. 30 issue of the Pleasanton Express and for free at all Atascosa County public libraries.

Key dates to consider for the General Election:

Deadline to register to vote is Oct. 5. Go to votetexas.gov today to find out if you are registered. At this site, hosted by the Texas Secretary of State, you will find a one-stop resource for voter information including:

• Am I registered to vote?

• Voter registration? • What’s on the ballot? • Voter ID info?

• Application for ballot by mail

If you do not have internet access, please visit the Atascosa County Elections office at 914 Main Street in Jourdanton or any of your local libraries in the county. They will also be able to help you with voter registration and voter information.

You must apply for a Texas absentee ballot and have it turned in by Oct. 28. Texas absentee ballot deadlines:

• In person: Received 11
days before the
election
• By mail: Received 11
days before Election
Day.
• Online: N/A

Texas absentee ballot rules

• You are over 65 years of age

• You are disabled or have an illness. (The Texas Supreme Court ruled that a lack of immunity to the coronavirus does not qualify a voter to apply for a mail-in ballot.)

• You will be out of the county on Election Day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance; or

• You are confined in jail, but otherwise eligible, or certified for participation in the address confidentiality program.
