Pleasanton eighth grade football at La Vernia


Pleasanton’s eighth grade football teams played at La Vernia on Nov. 8.

The eighth grade A team beat the Bears 32-26 to finish the season 3-4-1.

“The Eagles came out and played spectacularly on offense, scoring each time off of big plays,” said Pleasanton coach Stephen Barron.

Diego Luna made a catch and ran for a 70-yard touchdown. Sean Ramos connected with Jayce Krauskopf and Michael Castillo for 40-yard touchdown passes. Castillo also ran for touchdowns of 35 and 55 yards, plus a two-point conversion.

Barron said the defense played amazingly all night.

“The defensive standouts were Eric Flores, Diego Luna, Quaid Campbell, Max Tadeo and Adrain Flores,” Barron said, adding that he and coach Rick Trevino “are proud of the boys’ effort throughout the sason and are excited to see what the future holds for these young men.”

The eighth grade B team lost 18-0 to the Bears to finish the season 1-5.

“The Eagles played great defense and made the Bears earn every yard that they gained. The offense moved the ball throughout the game, but couldn’t overcome turnovers. The offensive standouts were Ecidro Hernandez, Froilan Aguirre, Kevin Tucker and Dillon Benavidez. The defensive standouts were James Arevalo, Gabriel Ramirez, Nick MIx and Donovan Alaniz,” said Barron. “The record doesn’t begin to show the drive and determination that these boys possess. Coach Barron and coach Trevino are proud of the effort put forth by the boys this season and are excited to see what the future holds for these young men.”
