The City of Pleasanton is keeping busy with its Business and Economic Development Initiatives.
City Manager Johnny Huizar led a Pleasanton delegation to Austin on Monday, June 25 to meet with Texas Workforce Commissioner on Labor Julian Alvarez, Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos, and State Representative Ryan Guillen’s Chief of Staff Ben Wright.
The delegation included: City Manager Johnny Huizar, EMC President & CEO Ernie Gonzalez, Coastal Bend College President Dr. Beatriz Espinoza, Dean Julia Garcia, Vice President of Instruction and Economic Development Carry DeAtley, Benito Tamez, and Raquel Navarro.
The group discussed labor workforce training opportunities for Pleasanton residents and businesses and the need for greater resources from the state. Commissioner Alvarez pledged his support for the city and gave high praises to the delegation for working in the spirit of collaborative efforts to achieve greater economic development.
“When cities, colleges, and school districts work together to train their local workforce, the community as a whole, becomes more competitive and attractive to outside industry and the City of Pleasanton is committed to working with Texas Workforce Commission and Workforce Solutions Alamo Area to prepare our workforce to seek higher paying jobs,” says Pleasanton City Manager Johnny Huizar.
Commissioner Julian Alvarez and Texas Secretary of State accepted invitations to visit Pleasanton and participate in a Business and Economic Development Summit later this fall.
