Pleasanton council sets installation of newly elected mayor, council



 

 

Pleasanton Mayor Travis Hall and council, at a meeting on May 6, set the installation of newly elected mayor and council members to be held during the May 20 meeting which will be held at the Pleasanton Civic Center:

Mayor – Clinton J. Powell; District 6 – Jeanne B. Israel; District 5 – Lillian Cashmer (unopposed); District 6 – J.R. Gallegos (incumbent).

Mayor Hall invited everyone to attend the following events:

• Grand Opening of the Windmill Exhibit at the Longhorn Museum which will be held Sat., May 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The collection was donated by Jim Collums of Poteet and the City of Pleasanton provided the building to house the exhibit. Refreshments will be served.

• Roping at the River (Pleasanton River Park) with Roping Dreams at the Showbarn May 7 and 8.

Main Street Property

City Manager Johnny Huizar reported to council that only one bid had been received for Main Street Property Renovations. As no other bids were received during the 60-day period, he presented the bid from DreamOn Development Company, LLC. Council unanimously approved a 60-day due diligence and exclusive negotiating agreement with the company.

Municipal Airport

The city manager requested the council approve a Hangar Lease Agreement between the City of Pleasanton and the following: Brent Barbour (seven months); Russell Nentwich (one year); Del Clayton (one year); James Warnken (one year); Gary Krisch (one year). Council gave unanimous approval.

Huizar advised council some were turned in late and would be presented at the next meeting. Some, he told council, would not be returning and those leases will be available to others.

Ordinances and Resolutions

• Ordinance No. 21-1268 amending a section of the City’s Code of Ordinances to provide for a Special Expense Fee for the dismissal of certain violations of Chapter 90. Voting for the motion to approve were Diana Prasifka, J.R Gallegos, Kenneth Hernandez and Robert Leonhardt. Britni Van Curan voted against the motion.

• Resolution No. 225-21 authorizing the submission of fiscal year 2021 State Homeland Security Program Grant application for the Municipal Airport Security Enhancement Project (fence and emergency generators). Council unanimously approved the resolution.

Before adjourning, council members made announcements. J.R. Gallegos thanked Mayor Hall for his service. “I have served under several mayors,” he noted, “And you are one of the best, in my opinion.”

Britni Van Curan stated “It has been an absolute honor and a privilege to have served with every one of you.”

Meeting was then adjourned.
