The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce will honor deserving citizens at their 61st annual awards event this Thursday, March 1. It will be held at Coughran Hall on Coughran Road, just east of IH37. A delicious catered barbecue chicken dinner will be enjoyed. Appetizers begin at 6:00 p.m.

The theme “Building Busines, Building Community” will feature newcomers to our area, Bruce Pearson, Pleasanton’s City Manager and Dr. Cynthia Clinesmith, the new Superintendent for Pleasanton I.S.D.

Nominees for this year are: Katie Blaha and Kristen DiCaro from Virginia Twins, Randall Harred, Jeff Chicoine, Jimmy Seay, Cindy Carr, Kathy Coronado, Walt Rakowitz, Christopher Williams, Shelby Crossland, Luis Hernandez, Norman Porter, Callie Bast and Tom & Pat Wickersham.

Last Year’s recipients were: Lions Club Man of the Year, Bill Carroll; Rotary Club Woman of the Year, June Hurley; Young Farmers Young Citizen of the Year, Wade McBee; Alpha Chi Chi Teenager of the Year, Courtney Paige Tullos; STRMC Senior Circle Senior Citizen of the Year, Eby Repka; Woman’s Club Couple of the Year, David and Betty Caballero; Chamber’s Business Person of the Year, Sara-Anne Polit and the Firemen’s Auxiliary Teacher of the Year, given in memory of David Cardwell, DVM, Bob “BR” Rentfro, Brush Country Art Club’s Artist of the Year, LaMerle Koehl.

The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce officers are President, Chico Cox; 1st Vice President, Shauna Garza; 2nd Vice President Wade McBee; Treasurer, Christie Gawlik; Secretary, Claudia G. Reyes and Executive Manager, Mystle Crossland. This year’s directors include: Jess Kemp, Kellie Vrana, Sharon LaGrange, Adrian Gutierrez, Rita Castillo, Candace Vrana, Eric Otto and Jody Nixon.

Tickets, $10 each, are available at the chamber office or at the door.
