The Pleasanton boys and girls golf teams each won their respective tournaments last week at the Jourdanton Invitational.
The Lady Eagles won the team title Feb. 5 after having the top two finishers.
Pleasanton junior Laken McAda had the top individual score with 87. Teammate Lacey Stevens shot a 97 to grab second.
The Lady Eagles earned first place with a combined score of 404. Other golfers for Pleasanton included Sarah Brendel (104), Meagan Mitchell (117) and Gabi Diaz (130).
Jourdanton finished second in the tournament with a team score of 453.
The Squaws were led by Averie Villarreal, who shot a 102. Also competing for Jourdanton were Laney Harlan (115), Brooke Vyvlecka (111), Haley Wilkins (125) and Blaire Livingston.
Jourdanton coach Paul Steffek described the conditions at the Pleasanton Country Club as brisk and breezy at the beginning of the competition.
“Jourdanton ISD would like to thank the schools and coaches for coming out and making the tournament a success,” Steffek said. “Thanks also to the staff at Pleasanton Country Club for keeping the course in great shape.”
Felicia Flores was the lone Poteet girls golfer, shooting a 130.
On Feb. 6, the Pleasanton boys topped the team standings.
Blake Foster led the Eagles with an 86, securing the gold medal.
Teammate Ryan Arnold placed third at 89.
As a team, Pleasanton scored 357. Also contributing for the Eagles were Johnny Zamora (97), Matt Garcia (91) and Ethan Hargrove (91).
The Eagles also had a team of Hunter Underbrink, Randy Balderas, Ryan Tudyk, Garner Kemp, Hunter Barnett and Fisher Underbrink.
Poteet placed fifth as a team behind Cody Gillespie (102), Markus Aguilar (103), Ross Mikolajczyk (104) and Sammy Ritchey (122).
Jourdanton boys competing included Clayton Moya, Kord Northcut, Cort Hindes and Colby Moy.
The teams will return to action Friday and Saturday in Pleasanton.
