PHS Alumni 86’d set to “Rock the River Park” at Cowboy Homecoming September 14

The 54th Cowboy Homecoming hosted by Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce is set for September 13-14, 2019 at the new Pleasanton River Park. The festival will coincide with Pleasanton football homecoming, bringing in a slew of alumni back to their hometown roots of Pleasanton.

86’d will be this year’s main headliner on Saturday, September 14, taking the stage at 11 p.m. The band is comprised of PHS Alumni John Mayse, JC Martinez, Richard Garcia, Barry Milam and Randy Reed. The band recently reunited at the Larry Brown Memorial Concert on September 28, 2018 for the first time since September 21, 2016.

This year’s musical lineup is ready to rock your socks off all day Saturday with a variety of performances.

Here is the music fest lineup:

 1-2:30 p.m., Mark Odom

 3-4:30 p.m., Texas Cavaliers

 5-6:30 p.m., Jerry Deleon

 7-8:30 p.m., Scott Wiggins

 9-10:30 p.m. Los Desperados

Mario Flores and the Soda Creek Band are set to perform Friday night immediately following the PHS Homecoming football game at the river park.

Festivities

Cowboy Homecoming is also bringing in a bunch of new events for people to enjoy this year including a Margarita Contest and Chili Cook Off! The first ever 12U Softball Tournament will also take place September 14 and 15 at the Pleasanton Sports Complex. For more information or to register your team, please contact Ernest Gonzales at 830-570-5154.

Coming back to Cowboy Homecoming this year is the 3 on 3 basketball tournament headed up by PHS boys basketball head coach Ricardo Marquez. For details, please contact Lexy at the Chamber.

The parade will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 14. Parade entry forms are now available on the Chamber website at www.pleasantoncofc.com or at the Chamber office at 605 2nd Street in Pleasanton.

Other past time favorites that will take place are a washers tournament, cornhole and the Little Mister and Miss Cowboy Homecoming Contest.

Cowboy Homecoming Queen

The biggest event of all is the highly anticipated crowning of the 2019/2020 Cowboy Homecoming Queen and her court!

The Chamber is currently seeking queen candidates! You must be a sophomore or junior at PHS and reside in Pleasanton. The Chamber has scheduled a meeting for candidates and parent/ guardians for Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 7 p.m. held at the Chamber office. The meeting is mandatory unless it interferes with a Pleasanton ISD sanctioned event.

Deadline for turning in signed Rules Form will be Friday, August 2, 2019. It is important to note that no candidate shall campaign prior to Friday, August 2, 2019. Please contact Cindy Mumm for any questions at 830-569- 2163 (office) or 210-287- 6187 (cell).

Cowboy Gallop

The 40th Wild Bill Cowboy Gallop 5K & 2-Mile Fun Walk sponsored by the Pleasanton Express will be held September 14 at the Pleasanton River Park. Free t-shirts to first 150 registered. Homemade tacos and tamales to all registered runners postrace. Cost is $15 preregistration and $20 the day of event. Prizes are awarded for the following age brackets 13 and under, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30- 34,35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, Grand Masters 70+.
