The Pleasanton ISD JROTC was presented with a $3,000 check from the Patriot Day 5K in the Park sponsors. Patriot Day 5K in the Park was held September 10, 2022, and hosted by the Pleasanton Express. Col. (Ret) Chris Wynder and CSM (Ret) Elvin Nuells, along with cadets of the JROTC were met by sponsors last week to accept the check.
“We want to thank all the sponsors for all the support you’ve provided us every single year in JROTC,” said Col. (Ret) Christopher Wynder. “The mission of JROTC is to motivate young people to be better citizens and we’re always looking for opportunities to get our cadets out in the community to show a positive presence. A financial contribution goes a long way to help us provide them with the support and resources they need to do what they love to do and that’s being involved with the community and participating in numerous events.”
Gold Sponsors for the race include City of Pleasanton, Mrs. Barbara Jean Peeler and RB Printing & Office Supplies, Pursch Motors GMC, Lillian R. Cashmer Insurance Agency, Hurley Funeral Homes, Inc., Wigington Rumley Dunn & Blair, LLP – Trace Blair, Brohill Realty and the Pleasanton Express. Silver sponsors are P-C Air, Price Chevrolet, The Tat Studio, H&R Block – Keith Shearrer, Atascosa Bank, Wells Construction, Bert Williams Insurance Agency and RM Car Care Service and Collision Repair.
“All the people here today were especially invited to be sponsors of Patriot Day 5K in the Park because they continually give back to this community year after year,” said Pleasanton Express Publisher Noel Wilkerson Holmes. “I want to give a humongous shout out to Woody Wilson. Patriot Day 5K was Woody’s idea. Woody wanted to make sure that even though it has been 20 plus years since that fateful day that we never forget the sacrifices made. I have so enjoyed working with Woody on this race that honors first responders lost on 9/11 and all our first responders here locally who put their lives on the line for us everyday.”
