Atascosa Running Club meets each Wednesday

Runners are invited to take part in the Atascosa Running Club Social Fun Run every Wednesday. They meet at 7:10 p.m. and are scheduled to meet again on June 12.

They will meet at “The Office Bar and Grill,” run to the Pleasanton River Park, around town and back to The Office. They will be running three to four miles. No one is left behind. They will run at a slow pace. All ages and abilities are welcome to join!

Stay afterwards for refreshments and get to know each other. Follow the group on Facebook at Atascosa Running Club.

Register for VBS at St. Matthew Catholic Church

Children ages Pre-K through fifth grade are welcome to register for Vacation Bible School at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Jourdanton.

VBS will be held from June 30– July 3, from 3- 6 p.m.

You can register at the church office on or before Friday, June 28, at 1608 Campbell in Jourdanton.

Select Baseball and Softball sign up

AMMO Select Baseball and Softball would like to extend a personal invitation for you to be a part of AMMO.

Sign up will take place on June 12 from 5-8 p.m. at Joe’s Place in Jourdan- ton. Those with questions may contact Sam Gallegos at 210-260-6348.

AMMO strives to provide players seeking a higher level of competition an opportunity to compete against some of the top communities and select travel teams in South Texas. While also focusing on developing strong fundamentals, teamwork, and a sense of community.

Their view is that local players should not have to leave the community to join a select baseball/softball team, to experience and reach their maximum potential. These teams are for those interested in a competitive atmosphere, being challenged and who want to learn the game.

AMMO will travel to other communities, but no more than 150 miles away and will play in games associated with USSSA and independent games. They will compete in approximately 25+ games over the course of the season. Players will play in two tournaments each month with one possibly being played at the Jourdanton Sports Complex.

Soil and Water Conservation Awards Program

The Atascosa Soil and Water Conservation District #307 will hold the 52nd Annual Conservation Awards Program on Thursday, June 13, to honor those who are outstanding in conservation. The program/dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Jourdanton Community Center. There will also be door prizes and a silent auction.

AT&T Business Fiber Solutions Workshop Thurs.

AT&T will hold a Business Communications Workshop on June 13, at 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Coastal Bend College, located at 1411 Bensdale Road, Room 116, in Pleasanton.

The workshop will feature AT&T Business Fiber Solutions, which provides high speed internet access through dedicated fiber optics cables. AT&T’s goal is to create awareness of the technology available to support business growth and economic development.

AT&T Senior Fiber Solutions Specialist Victor Hernandez will serve as the workshop presenter and highlight details about all available options for local businesses.

Diez y Seis Queen candidates

Young girls ages 8-10 are encouraged to enter the annual St. Andrew Catholic Church Diez y Seis Celebration Contest. Coordinators will be accepting entries until June 14, which is when the contest will start.

The contest is a fundraiser for the St. Andrew Catholic Church Parish Hall building fund in Pleasanton. The candidate raising the most money will be declared Queen of the Fiestas Patrias de el Diez y Seis de Septiembre (September 16).

Those entering the contest do not have to be parishioners of St. Andrew. The coronation of the queen, princess and duchess will take place during a celebration scheduled for September 7. For details call the church rectory at 830-

The Safer Path Family Violence Shelter will host their first ever sporting clay tournament, “Pulling for Safer Path,” on June 15.

The event will take place at Malek Buck Horn Creek Ranch in McCoy. This is a four-man team tournament.

Rolling River VBS at Cowboy Fellowship

Come to Cowboy Fellowship for an action packed white water rafting adventure with the Rolling River Rampage VBS on June 17-21.

Rolling River Rampage is an adventure full of wonder and surprise with Bible-learning experiences, music, exciting science, creative crafts, recreation, and Bible stories to help kids know that God is always with them as they ride the rapids of His amazing grace! Kids will also participate in a hands-on mission project during the week.

Plus, a meal will be provided to each child during VBS this year.

Rolling River Rampage is for kids from 3-yearsold to sixth grade, and will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday will be Family Night from 6 to 8 p.m. and parents MUST attend Family Night with their child.

Plate Sale for Jacob Mendoza

Family and friends of Jacob Mendoza of Jourdanton will be holding a benefit plate sale on Sunday, June 23 at the Charlotte Fire Station from 11 a.m. until sold out.

All proceeds will go toward medical expenses for Jacob. Plates are $8 each and will include chicken, sausage, potato salad, beans and all the trimmings. A bake sale will also take place.

Line Community

Band at St. Andrew’s

On Sunday, June 23, the County Line Community Band will join forces with the 323rd Army Band, “Fort Sam’s Own” in a joint performance of their “D-Day Remembrance Concert” at 3 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church Parish Hall in Pleasanton.

The church is located at 626 Market St. and the concert is free and open to the public. All military are invited.
