Atascosa Running Club changes meeting time

This summer, the Atascosa Running Club Social Fun Run will begin at 7:10 p.m. every Wednesday. They are scheduled to meet again on June 5.

They will meet at “The Office Bar and Grill,” run to the Pleasanton River Park, around town and back to The Office. They will be running three to four miles. No one is left behind. They will run at a slow pace. All ages and abilities are welcome to join!

Stay afterwards for refreshments and get to know each other. Follow the group on Facebook at Atascosa Running Club.

Special People to meet at St. Andrew’s Hall

All senior citizens of our community who are 55 years young or older are invited to the luncheon and social events every first Wednesday of the month, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.

The newly formed club Extra Special People meets at 11 a.m. in the Knights of Columbus room at St. Andrew’s Parish Hall. The next meeting is June 5.

Officers are: president Marilyn Katcsmorak, secretary- Bertha Garza, treasurer- Felipa Garza and activity director- Happy Amador.

Supplies for different crafts events are needed and will be welcomed. Contact one of these ladies for more information or contact the church office. The June event will include Brainy Games and bingo with prizes.

Floresville Opry to feature country favorites

The Wilson County Expo and Community Center will be ablaze with music and fun on Thursday, June 6, from 6-9:30 p.m. housing the Floresville Opry. Doors to the Expo, located at 435 S.H. 97 E., will open at 5 p.m.

Guests can two-step to some sizzling classic country dance music with the talented Jarrett Akers, John Hanson, and Zac Clifton on stage as headliners, accompanied by the “Opry House Band.” The monthly event will also include a silent auction, door prizes, and a delicious pork steak dinner for $8, by Outlaw Catering. $1 desserts will also be available, courtesy of the Wilson County Historical Society. Opry goers are reminded to take their own adult beverages. Set-ups and soft drinks will be available to purchase.

General admission is $10. Reserved tables, which seat eight, are $100 and can be held by calling Viola Henke at 830- 391-1062. Those spending the night in one of the Floresville hotels that have discounted rates for Opry fans can get two free tickets by presenting their confirmation number at the

Gas up the all-terrain vehicle and head out on a wilderness adventure like no other. Each day kids will make crafts, play fun games, enjoy tasty snacks, sing cool songs, and learn about missions.

It’s Vacation Bible School time at Crosspoint Fellowship Baptist Church, located at 739 Dallas St. in Pleasanton. Dates are June 10-13, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Children who have finished kindergarten, through those who have finished fifth grade are admitted free.

Pleasanton free summer program each Tuesday

The City of Pleasanton recently began their free, one day per week, eightweek summer program for Atascosa County youth. There will be a variety of activities such as trades, skills, hobbies and sportrelated events, with a local sponsor each week. All events are set to begin at 10 a.m.

AMMO Select Baseball and Softball sign up

AMMO Select Baseball and Softball would like to extend a personal invitation for you to be a part of AMMO.

Sign up will take place on June 12 from 5-8 p.m. at Joe’s Place in Jourdanton. Those with questions may contact Sam Gallegos at 210-260-6348.

AMMO strives to provide players seeking a higher level of competition an opportunity to compete against some of the top communities and select travel teams in South Texas. While also focusing on developing strong fundamentals, teamwork, and a sense of community.

Their view is that local players should not have to leave the community to join a select baseball/softball team, to experience and reach their maximum potential. These teams are for those interested in a competitive atmosphere, being challenged and who want to learn the game.

AMMO will travel to other communities, but no more than 150 miles away and will play in games associated with USSSA and independent games. They will complete in approximately 25+ games over the course of the season. Players will play in two tournaments each month with one possibly being played at the Jourdanton Sports Complex.

June 13- AT&T Business Fiber Solutions Workshop

AT&T will hold a Business Communications Workshop on June 13, at 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Coastal Bend College, located at 1411 Bensdale Road, Room 116, in Pleasanton.

The workshop will feature AT&T Business Fiber Solutions, which provides high speed internet access through dedicated fiber optics cables. AT&T’s goal is to create awareness of the technology available to support business growth and economic development.

AT&T Senior Fiber Solutions Specialist Victor Hernandez will serve as the workshop presenter and highlight details about all available options for local businesses.

This City of Pleasanton and EMC Strategy Group have held over a dozen workshops since last spring and has scheduled workshops to support local businesses and economic development throughout the rest of 2019.

Soil and Water Conservation Awards Program

The Atascosa Soil and Water Conservation District #307 will hold the 52nd Annual Conservation Awards Program on Thursday, June 13, to honor those who are outstanding in conservation. The program/dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Jourdanton Community Center. There will also be door prizes and a silent auction.

Bible School at First Baptist Pleasanton

Sign your kids up for the adventure of a lifetime at First Baptist Church Vacation Bible School at 400 Reed St., Pleasanton.

Dates are June 17 – 21, Monday-Thursday from 2-5 p.m.; Friday is Water Day from 9 a.m.-12 noon.

This year’s theme is “In the Wild: Amazing Encounters with Jesus.”

Free lunch served at 1 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday for kids 18 and under and registered for VBS.

Pulling for Safer Path on June 15

The Safer Path Family Violence Shelter will host their first ever sporting clay tournament, “Pulling for Safer Path,” on June 15. It was originally planned for May, but rescheduled due to bad weather.

The event will take place at Malek Buck Horn Creek Ranch in McCoy. This is a four-man team tournament.

Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. and shooting starts at 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided. Awards will follow. There will also be a live and silent auction. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
