Apply for free senior meals at Civic Center

Application pick-up for free senior meals continues weekdays at the Pleasanton Civic Center, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Meals will be delivered once a week to qualified seniors at the Civic Center. As part of the City of Pleasanton’s partnership with Meals on Wheels, they must provide congregate seating and eating along with an activity during each meal.

With the new Senior Days program that just started, the City will be providing a place to enjoy a nutritious meal and fellowship. Those with questions may call the Pleasanton Civic Center at 830-569-5904.

Pleasanton to hold Customer Service Workshop Thursday

The City of Pleasanton will hold a customer service workshop on Feb. 7, at 11:30 a.m. at the Pleasanton Civic Center.

Lee Burden, owner of WhyDewey Customer Service Training, will lead the workshop. Lee is an experienced Customer Service Trainer and has worked in the restaurant and service industry throughout his professional career.

Workshop topics will include: appearance, attitude, intensity, manners, perception, productivity, professionalism, punctuality, sincerity, and teamwork.

This workshop is free and open to all regional residents. Many businesses invest thousands of dollars and resources into professional development for its employees and the City of Pleasanton is providing this workshop at no cost to area businesses.

Poteet Coronation Feb. 8

Find out who will be crowned this year’s Little Miss and Mister Poteet, at the coronation on Friday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. The event will take place at the Poteet High School Auditorium.

This year, it will be held earlier than the Poteet Strawberry Festival King and Queen Coronation, which is not until Saturday,

Valentine’s Dinner on Feb. 9

Come celebrate Valentine’s Day with a nice dinner and live music on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Jourdanton Mighty Indian Band Valentine’s Dinner. The event is open to all ages and will take place from 5-9 p.m. at the Jourdanton High School Cafeteria.

The pre-sale ticket deadline has been extended to Wednesday, Feb. 6. Pre-sale tickets are $10.

Tickets will be $12 at the door. Plates will consist of brisket, rice, potato salad and bread. The Jazz Band will be performing during the dinner.

Be sure to bid on any of the silent auction items. All proceeds go to the Jourdanton Band Boosters. Those with any questions are asked to please contact jourdantonbandboosters@ gmail.

The next Senior’s Day is on Monday, Feb. 11 at the Pleasanton Civic Center. Join fellow senior citizens for a game of Bingo starting at 10 a.m.

Feb. 24 for Esparza descendants

The first meeting of 2019 for Ana and Gregorio Esparza descendants was held Sunday, Jan. 27 at Cafe Chris in Pleasanton.

More volunteers are needed. The next meeting will be at 2 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Cafe Chris. It’s not too late to join us.

The next Esparza Family reunion is set for July 13, 2019, at the Floresville Event Center.
