Day Care Workshop

The City of Pleasanton and the Texas Health and Human Services Child Care Licensing Division will hold a Day Care Provider Workshop Jan. 10, at 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Pleasanton Coastal Bend College.

The workshop is open to all current Texas Licensed Day Care Providers and anyone interested in becoming a licensed provider or starting a Day Care. The State of Texas requires that all Child Care Providers are officially licensed and inspected by the Texas Health and Human Services.

Atascosa County, like many surrounding counties, has experienced an increase in birthrates over the last several years. The increased birthrate is creating opportunities for the expansion of locally owned Day Cares. Many regional Day Cares usually operate on a waiting list, which creates a challenge for working families. Recently, Coastal Bend College has explored the addition of an onsite Early Childhood Development Center in its Pleasanton Campus to further attract and retain college students.

“We are committed to support working families by providing awareness about strengthening cur- rent Day Cares and the potential to start new ones in the city,” says Pleasanton City Manager Johnny Huizar.

“Day cares help support the local economy because it provides families the opportunity to keep their children in a regulated and inspected environment that can provide childcare and, in many cases, early childhood development,” says Pleasanton Business and Economic Development Consultant Janice Gonzalez.
