Seniors Day Bingo
The Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department and Pleasanton Express will host Seniors Day on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Pleasanton Civic Center. Join them for bingo starting at 10 a.m.
Operation Christmas Child at FBC Jourdanton
First Baptist Church of Jourdanton will once again be the Regional Hub for Operation Christmas Child. If you would like to use an official pre-printed shoebox, they have a limited number available for pick up.
Start with an averagesize cardboard or plastic shoe box. If you want to wrap it, cover the box and lid separately. Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Fill with gifts. Donate $9 a box online or include it with your shoebox. Pray for the child who will receive your gift.
Drop off your shoe box at FBCJ Youth Building, located at 515 Zanderson (SH 16). If you have questions contact 830-769-3552.
Dates and times for box collection are: Wednesday, Nov. 14, 5-7 p.m.; Thursday, Nov. 15, 5-7 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 16, 5-7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 17, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 18, noon to 3 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Motivational speaker Jeff Yalden at JISD
On Thursday, Nov. 15, Jourdanton ISD will welcome motivational speaker Jeff Yalden, from 6-7:45 p.m. He is scheduled to speak at the JISD Early Childhood Center Cafeteria, 101 La Garde Ave.
JISD parents and the entire community are invited to hear his presentation. His specialties include speaking on and training suicide prevention, raising awareness of mental health issues and providing coping mechanisms for crisis situations.
Motivated to teach and inspire teens across the globe, Jeff Yalden is a high energy, “tell it like it is” youth motivational speaker, mental health professional, and parent communicator.
Thanksgiving Dinner applications due Nov. 16
The Atascosa County volunteer group Main Street Outreach is preparing for their annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Nov. 22.
They would like to offer individual turkey plate dinners to anyone who would like one, free of charge. Plates will need to be picked up at the St. Andrew Catholic Church Parish Hall or they can be delivered.
Anyone who needs a meal is asked to please contact the First Baptist Church office at 830-569- 2582. Thanksgiving meal forms can be picked up at First Baptist Church, 400 N. Reed St. in Pleasanton, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday- Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Deadline to sign up is Nov. 16.
Free senior meals at Pleasanton Civic Center
Application pick-up for free senior meals continues from now until Nov. 26 at the Pleasanton Civic Center, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Meals will be delivered once a week to qualified seniors at the Civic Center. As part of the City of Pleasanton’s partnership with Meals on Wheels, they must provide congregate seating and eating along with an activity during each meal.
With the new Senior Days program that just started, the City will be providing a place to enjoy a nutritious meal and fellowship. Those with questions may call the Pleasanton Civic Center at 830-569-5904.
“Cabin Fever” at ACT Theatre Nov. 16-18
The ACT Theatre group’s fall production of the funny family drama “Cabin Fever” continues Nov. 16-18. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

ACT Theatre is located at 1435 W Oaklawn in Pleasanton, tucked behind All Saints’ Episcopal Church and next door to Pizza Hut.
PHS Project Graduation Dance on Nov. 17
Get your tickets for a night of dinner, great bands and an open bar on Saturday, Nov. 17, to benefit Pleasanton High School Project Graduation 2019. The event will take place at the Atascosa County Showbarn.
Enjoy an evening of live music from 6 p.m. to midnight featuring Rick Reyna, Chris Saucedo Band and Jerry DeLeon There will also be a raffle prize drawing and silent auction.

Volunteer Fair Nov. 17
The City of Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department will host a First Step Volunteer Fair Day on Saturday, Nov. 17. The event will be held at the Pleasanton Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
This will be a great opportunity for those wanting to make a difference by volunteering, as well as for non-profits who need volunteers.

Argent Court Craft Show on Nov. 17
Argent Court in Jourdanton will hold its Craft Show on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vendors will be selling a variety of items such as: jams, candy, crosses, peanut brittle, handmade purses, prints and blankets, pillows and blankets, jewelry, breads and baked goods, handmade Christmas wreaths, metal arts and more.

Volunteers needed for Christmas Village
This year’s annual Christmas Village is set for Friday, Dec. 7- Sunday, Dec. 9 at the Poteet Strawberry Festival grounds.
Volunteers are needed in many areas to assist and make the event a success. If you would like to lend a helping hand, either as an actor (speaking and non-speaking parts are available), painting and decorating scenes, sewing costumes, etc. you are asked to please call 830- 569-2582.

Sign up for Toys for Tots at VFW Post 4853
Santa’s elves at VFW Post 4853 in Jourdanton are currently accepting applications for the Toys for Tots program. Last day to sign up is Nov. 30.
Sign up is in person at VFW Post 4853, 809 Oak St. in Jourdanton, Monday and Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday from 3-6 p.m.
Only the parents or legal guardians of the children may register for toys. If you are a guardian bring your guardianship paperwork.
You must bring with you to registration: photo ID, birth certificates for all children being registered (ages 0-12) and proof of residence (example: utility bill).
November activities at Pleasanton Library
Bring your children to the Pleasanton Library and make an ornament for the Christmas tree. Starting Nov. 14, children can come in anytime during normal business hours and make an ornament. The ornaments will be used to decorate the large Christmas tree in front of the library and Civic Center. All materials will be provided.
The library will also be showing a holiday movie at the Civic Center, on Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. Please call the library at 830-569-5901, if you have any questions.
Meme’s will be Blessing families with a Thanksgiving Day Meal
This invitation is for anyone who might find themselves without a family to break bread with, or who want to join others in fellowship. Please come and join Meme’s Kitchen, 1513 Second St., Unit C in Pleasanton, on this special day where they will give thanks together.
Lunch will be served Thanksgiving Day, November 22, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., or until they run out of food. Owners Will and Leticia Turner only ask that you come with an open heart to receive the love of our Heavenly Father.
