Candlelight Vigil, Domestic Violence Awareness
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Join “A Safer Path Family Violence Center” (Atascosa Family Crisis Center) as they sponsor a Candlelight Vigil on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. It will take place at the Pleasanton River Park near the Adams Street bridge.
A proclamation will be read, followed by the vigil to honor those who have lost their life to domestic violence, those who have survived and those who may be enduring it still.
The public is invited to the Mindful Parenting Webinar on Thursday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pleasanton ISD District Training Center, 1209 Jolly St., next door to Pleasanton Junior High.
Have you ever said to a kid, “Why don’t you just calm down?!”
Of course you have; we all have! Being able to “just calm down” is actually a skill called selfregulation that requires a part of the brain called the prefrontal cortex.
This interactive training will explore mindfulness activities for kids, and the type of language parents and teachers can use to foster children who will succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Free parent training. For more information contact Diane Garza, Parent Liaison at 830-569-1230 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
