Pleasanton Young Farmers Open Rodeo & Festival
The Pleasanton Young Farmers will present their Cowboy of the Year Open Rodeo and Festival, Aug. 17-18 at the Atascosa County Show Barn Arena.
Friday night’s festivities will include the Cowboy of the Year presentation at 7:30 p.m. followed by the Young Farmers Rodeo at 8 p.m. John Christopher Way will perform after the rodeo.
Saturday’s events are the BBQ Cook-Off and Young Farmers Rodeo at 7 p.m. Following the rodeo, John Christopher Way will open for Jon Wolfe.

The festival is the richest Open Rodeo in Texas, with $13,500 added money.
Atascosa Health Center Community Health Fair
Atascosa Health Center, Inc. has teamed up with the American Cancer Society to host a Community Health Fair/ HPV Forum on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center is located at 310 W. Oaklawn, Pleasanton (across from H-E-B).
AHC will have numerous vendors: Antonio Blood Bank, Lions Visions Bus, Methodist Hospital South, Coastal Bend, just to name a few.
Guest speakers include Dr. Shanel Thompson, Dr. Anu Dham and Jaime Wesolowski, President and CEO of Methodist Healthcare Ministries. There will be HPV Vaccinations, $10 sports physicals, blood pressure checks, refreshments, games and prizes. The event will be open to the public.
Pleasanton P.D. Back to School Bash on Main Street
The Barbershop, 217 1/2 N. Main St. in Pleasanton, has gotten together with the Pleasanton Police Department for the Back to School Bash on Main Street on Aug. 25. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Barbershop will give away free basic haircuts to the first 60 students, kinder to 12th grade. Join them for music and free snacks.
They also have a donation box at H-E-B for those who want to donate school supplies. The supplies will be handed out to students on Aug. 25 while supplies last.
Please join your local WIC clinic inside the Atascosa Health Center in celebration of National Breastfeeding Month on Friday, August 31, at their annual Breastfeeding Carnival. They are located at 310 W Oaklawn Rd.
The Carnival will be from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., and is open to the entire community. It will teach expectant women, moms, family members and the community the importance of breastfeeding, as well as provide information on how to better support breastfeeding.
Free Summer Program: Tae Kwon Do on Aug. 16
The City of Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department will continue its weekly free, 12 Week Summer Program for youth on Thursday, Aug. 16.
Tri-City Martial Arts is sponsoring the next program, which will feature Tae Kwon Do at the Pleasanton Civic Center at 10 a.m.
Moms Day Out
Moms can have that much needed time out at Moms Day Out held at First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Main St. in Pleasanton. Days are each Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For ages 3-5.
