Free Summer Program: Orienteering & Scavenger Hunt at River Park
The City of Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department continues its weekly free, 12 Week Summer Program for youth on Thursday, Aug. 2. The Pleasanton ISD JROTC will sponsor an orienteering event at the Pleasanton River Park, starting at 10 a.m. Join them and put your map skills to the test in this fun scavenger hunt.

Jourdanton Early Childhood Center to open
On Thursday, August 2 from 4-6 p.m. The newly completed Jourdanton Early Childhood Center will be open to the public. Come see the ECC classrooms, cafeteria, playground and offices.
Car show August 3
Bring out your hot rod, classic car or motorcycle to the Strawberry City Show- N-Shine on Friday, August 3. This free car show is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at the Poteet Music Pavilion Grill on Highway 16, next to the Poteet Strawberry Festival grounds. Join them for fun, food and music in a family-friendly atmosphere. The event is held on the first Friday of every month, weather permitting.
August 4 Benefit for Sally Trimble Smith
The family of Sally Trimble Smith will hold a benefit on Saturday, Aug. 4. Funds raised will go towards Sally’s medical expenses. The benefit will feature dinner, a silent and live auction and music at American Legion Post 436. It is located at 1404 Zanderson Ave. in Jourdanton.Music will be presented by the talented Country Christian Music Ministry.

Fun in the Park & Family Movie Night in Poteet
The Poteet Police Association and Atascosa Family Crisis Center are teaming up for the Fun in the Park and Family Movie Night on Saturday, August 4. Join them for an exciting evening filled with water activities like a water slide, games, raffle prizes and an amazing movie to follow “I Can Only Imagine,” at Poteet Canyon Park. Water play will take place from 5-8 p.m. and the movie will start at about 7:30 p.m. Water blasters and bottles of drinking water will be free, while supplies last. Free popcorn, while supplies last, will be given out prior to the start of the movie. Bring your lawn chairs. Nachos and other snacks will be sold for $1 each.
