“Mondays at the Movies”

Weekly events will continue at the Pleasanton Civic Center from now until August 20 at 10 a.m.

“Teen Fridays” will be held from now until August 24, at 3 p.m. Before the movie on Fridays, money management modules for the teens will be presented.

For details call the library at 830-569-5901. Library hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cotulla Fourth of July

Folks in Cotulla will hold their Fourth of July Celebration on Saturday, June 30. The day’s festivities will begin with a parade at 10 a.m.

The fun will continue from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the historic downtown Veterans Park with food, music and a beer garden.

Performers include Grupo Reyna from 5:30-7 p.m., the Borderline Band from 7:30-9 p.m., The Spazmatics from 9:30-11 p.m. and Marcos Orozco from 11:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Cotulla’s fireworks display is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.

Sheriff’s Office Blood Drive June 29

The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office will host a blood drive Friday, June 29. The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center bus will be in the parking lot at the Sheriff’s Office from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Dr. Ben & Mona Parker Texas Historical Marker

The Atascosa County Historical Commission and the Longhorn Museum Society invite everyone to the dedication of an Official Texas Historical Marker to honor “Dr. Ben and Mona Parker and KBOP.”

The unveiling will take place Saturday, June 30 Refreshments will be served inside the museum following the ceremony, compliments of the Longhorn Museum Society.

American Pride Day in Jourdanton

On Wednesday, July 4, the Jourdanton Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the 15th annual American Pride Day. Bring the family to the Jourdanton City Park, from 6 to 10 p.m. Admission is free.

The celebration will open with the Poteet VFW Honor Guard presenting the colors. There will be free hot dogs and drinks while supplies last, entertainment for the kids, the Most Patriotic Costume Contest and music by River City Kings.

The big fireworks show will light up the sky about 9:30 p.m.

CASA 5K Color Run

The Pleasanton Express is proud to be a sponsor of the first ever CASA 5K Color Run set for Saturday, July 21. Call Brianna at 830-480-4793 by July 10, if you would like to help sponsor this CASA event.

The run will start at 8 a.m. at the Pleasanton River Park.

This day will be full of fun and color. All ages are welcome to run or walk in this 5K. The first 75 registered participants will receive a T-shirt to wear for the run.

Pre-registration is $30 per person and ends July 17. Registration the day of the event will be $35. Call 830-569-4696 for details or go to their website at www.casasouthtx.org
