12 Week Free Summer Program for kids

The City of Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department will begin its free, 12 Week Summer Program for kids on Thursday, June 7.

The first program will feature leadership and games at the Pleasanton Civic Center at 10 a.m., sponsored by PISD Student Council.

Weekly activities will include trades, skills, hobbies and sport-related events sponsored by local organizations and businesses. Most events are set to begin at 10 a.m. Most of these activities will take place at the River Park or Civic Center.

Parks Master Plan Groundbreaking Ceremony

June 8

This Friday, June 8, the City of Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department will hold a Parks Master Plan Groundbreaking Ceremony at 7 p.m. The event will take place at the Pleasanton River Park Pavilion #2. The public is invited.

There will also be free food and a Movie Night after the ceremony, sponsored by the City of Pleasanton and Atascosa Family Crisis Center.

This Friday, June 8 is the first summer Movie Night. Come out and watch a free movie and grab some free food and drinks while supplies last. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and food, however no alcohol is allowed.

This family event will take place at the Pleasanton River Park at the ball field, next to the big pavilion

Start showing up around 7:30 p.m. to get food, drink and find a place to park your lawn chair or place your blanket. The movie will kick off around sunset. Bring your family and come watch a movie under the stars!

4×4 Aim for Kindness

The 4×4 Aim for Kindness in honor of Tanner McCleary’s birthday will be Saturday, June 9, at the Meyer Range (Gun and Machine Shop) located at 95 S CR 321 in Jourdanton. Sign in is at 8 a.m. and the last shot will be at 4 p.m.

This event will be a 4 discipline shooting competition and also consist of a live and silent auction. The funds raised will be split four ways between the Atascosa County Law Enforcement Officers Association, Atascosa Family Crisis Center, CASA of South Texas and the Children’s Alliance of South Texas. Boy Scout Troop 194 Garage Sale

Boy Scout Troop 194 will hold a garage sale on Saturday, June 9, at 314 N. Bryant Street in Pleasanton. The sale will run from 8 a.m. until 12 noon.

CAST grand opening

Join the Children’s Alliance of South Texas for their Grand Opening Celebration on Monday, June 11, at 810 Main St. in Jourdanton. The local office is located near the Atascosa County Courthouse (the old JP3) building.

The chamber of commerce is coming out for the ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. then the Grand Opening Celebration will continue until 2 p.m.

Folks can come in and take a tour and learn more about what the Children’s Alliance of South Texas, a Child Advocacy Center does and more about the child advocacy center model.

Crosspoint Fellowship VBS to start

It is Vacation Bible School at Crosspoint Fellowship, located at 739 Dallas St. in Pleasanton. Children who have finished kindergarten up to those who have finished fifth grade are admitted free, June 11-14. Time will be 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Game On will be an event to remember. Come on and join them.

Kicks for Kids

The Atascosa County Child Welfare Board invites you to their first ever Kicks for Kids family kickball tournament on June 13-14, at the Pleasanton Sports Complex. The deadline to register has been extended to June 8.

The event will be a 16-team single elimination tournament.  Family kickball means teams will be comprised of adults and kids.
