Out and About

Winning!

While this phrase was made popular by what’s his name (yes, I know it, but that is what he wants… recognition), it also applies to our readers, both newspaper and online. We have winners!

Lisa Luna, our editor of our Living section, received 15 entries in our annual Christmas Story contest. There were so many from children that we added them in a category of its own – with a $25 prize, too.

This year’s winners are: Serious story – Connie Espinoza, Somerset; Humorous story – Chad Vrana, Jourdanton; (each won $50) and our children’s winner is Shelby Henson, Pleasanton ($25 winner).

Read these stories beginning on the front of Living. All stories will be in our online edition as well.

Also, as a gift to our readers, we held a contest at our office for two free subscriptions – newspaper and online. Congratulations to Eileen Hubka and Len Schendel.

Last chance If you haven’t visited our website to upload your favorite Christmas photo – past or present…you have about a week to do so. It’s easy and if you are lucky, you could win an online subscription! So, thumb through those photo albums and scan them or scroll through your digital camera and upload ‘em… Friday, December 30 is the deadline.

Rowr! It is also time to make plans for the Pleasanton Lions Club Wild Game Dinner. It’ll be held at the Atascosa County Showbarn on Saturday, February 25. They are selling tables and tickets as well as looking for items for their silent and live auctions. Contact Rey Rodriguez at 830-569- 5040 or email at frndly_ txn@msn.com. For tickets you can go by Wall’s in Pleasanton or contact them at 830-569-2579.

Giving = Deduction The Pleasanton Public Library Foundation, Inc. and the Pleasanton Community Center, Inc. are hoping you need a tax deduction for this year. Both are 501(c) 3 organizations and you can help them out by making a donation to buy the “extras” that will be needed for the buildings’ interiors. Great to give to a worthy cause and receive a tax break from Uncle Sam, no?
