Calling all Strawberry Growers!
The Strawberry Festival Association will host a meeting for current and potential strawberry growers this Thursday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Poteet Rotary Building. Festival planners are seeking more farmers to start growing strawberries, especially during the annual Poteet Strawberry Festival. They’d like to encourage past growers and new growers to participate.
Memorial Day Closure
The Pleasanton Express office will be closed on Monday, May 30 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. We will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, May 31. Our classified ads deadline will be Tuesday, May 31 at noon. We wish everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend! We thank our veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice.
Memorial Day Celebration
The Veterans and Auxiliary of the VFW Post 6970 in Poteet are inviting the public to celebrate our past and present veterans who have given all for the freedom of our nation on Monday, May 30 at 9 a.m. Breakfast will be provided, and a United States flag-raising ceremony will take place. Summer Safety Seminar
South Texas Regional Medical Center’s Healthy Woman will be sponsoring a free Summer Safety Seminar on Wednesday, June 1 from 6-8 p.m. at the Healthy Woman/Senior Circle location at 1320 W. Oaklawn in Pleasanton. Sterling Woerner, a Texas A&M student and Pleasanton native, will give a talk about pool and swimming safety. Kim Reger, RN, will speak about safety while traveling.
