Trick or Treat Trail on Halloween at River Park

This Halloween, bring the family out to the Pleasanton River Park from 5-7 p.m.

The City of Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department will host a free Trick or Treat Trail with safety protocols in place, Saturday, Oct. 31. Join them for free candy and treats.

Over 40 groups/organizations have signed up to pass out candy at the event. Those with questions may email tgarza@ pleasantontx.gov or call 830-569-5904.

Charlotte Trunk or Treat on Halloween

Enjoy lots of candies and goodies at the first ever Charlotte Trojans Trunk or Treat event this Saturday, Oct. 31. Join them from 6-7:30 p.m. at the drive-thru in Charlotte’s town square. Enter on Yule Street and exit onto FM 140.

If you would like to participate in the Trunk or Treat in Charlotte call Cathy Pawelek at 830-570- 4382 or Luna’s Tire Shop at 830-277-1661. The event is sponsored by Luna’s Tire Shop, P3 Ranch, AA Land- Key and DMW Ranch.



The Office Bar and Grill Halloween Spooktacular

Halloween night, head on out to The Office Bar and Grill, 205 East Hunt St. in Pleasanton, for a Halloween Spooktacular Bash from 1-6 p.m.

There will be music by DJ Sosa, witches brew brownies, cauldrons decorating, train ride for kids and bouncy castles! There will also be games available and a costume contest for adults and kids from 5-6 p.m.

St. Matthew Car Wash & Hamburger Fundraiser

St. Matthew Catholic Church in Jourdanton is planning a car wash and hamburger sack lunch fundraiser for the St. Matthew/ St. Ignatius Scholarship Fund.

The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 31. The car wash will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a $10 fee per vehicle washed.

The burger lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Knights of Columbus #3266, CCD parents and the St. Matthew/ St. Ignatius Women’s Group will be preparing the burgers and putting the lunches together.

Stop by and enjoy a burger while having your vehicle washed. Thanks in advance for your participation.



Verdi Community-Wide Yard Sale on Oct. 31

Join the folks in Verdi for their Community-Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Some will be selling items from their homes while others will set up at the Verdi Community Center.

Jourdanton FCCLA blood drive on Nov. 4

On Wednesday, Nov. 4, the Jourdanton FCCLA will host a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center bloodmobile will be at the Jourdanton High School parking lot.

To donate blood, you must be in good general health, at least 17 years of age (or 16 with parental consent form) and weigh at least 110 pounds (or 120 pounds if 16 years old).

Nov. 6 deadline to audition for Merry on Main’s Got Talent Show



Audition tapes for the Merry on Main’s Got Talent Show are now being accepted. Video submission deadline is now Nov. 6.

Please send a three-minute audition tape to entertainment@merryonmain.org, along with your name, age and performance category (vocal performance, comedy act, instrumental, etc.).

There are two age groups: ages 5-15 and 16 and older. The top 10 contestants in each age group will perform at the Merry on Main’s Got Talent Show set for Dec. 4 at the Pleasanton River Park, hosted by Brad Jenschke.

Prizes are first place- $300, second place- $200 and third place- $100. Cash prizes are sponsored by Country Girl Designs.

Paws for a Cause 5K & 1 Mile Walk set for Nov. 7

Register for the 2nd annual Paws for a Cause 5K & 1 Mile Walk set for Saturday, Nov. 7. The event will take place at the Pleasanton River Park.

You can register at eventbrite.com and search “Paws for a Cause 5K & 1 Mile Walk.” On-site registration will also be available Nov. 7 from 8-8:45 a.m. The Run/Walk will start at 9 a.m.



Bring your furry friend for a morning of activities such as the Pop Up Dog Park, Pet Contest, Friendliest Face Contest and more.

The Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department and Safer Path Family Violence Shelter are co-hosting this event to bring awareness to the co-occurrence of pet abuse and domestic violence.

Benefit BBQ Plate Sale for Lupe Estrada Martinez

The friends and family of Lupe Estrada Martinez will hold a Benefit BBQ Plate Sale on Saturday, Nov. 7. Serving will begin at 11 a.m. at the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce Log Cabin until sold out.

Plates will be $9 each and will include delicious cooked barbecue chicken, Kiolbassa sausage, rice, beans, potato salad, bread and jalapeño. All proceeds go towards medical and living expenses for Martinez, who is a breast cancer warrior.



Drinks and baked goods will also be available for purchase. For presale tickets, or if you have baking skills and would like to donate baked goods, contact James at 830-570- 6625.

PHS Softball Team Rummage Sale on Nov. 7

See what treasures you can find at the Pleasanton Eagles Softball Rummage Sale on Saturday, Nov. 7. The fundraiser will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the athletic office parking lot.

There will be furniture, appliances, sports equipment, tools, electronics, clothes, dishes, toys, home decor and more.

Event organizers kindly request that those attending wear a mask to help keep their players safe and healthy.

Atascosa Animal Allies Putts for Paws Nov. 7

Golf teams are needed to sign up for the Atascosa Animal Allies 3rd Annual Putts for Paws golf tournament on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The event will take place at the Pleasanton Country Club with registration at 11 a.m. and the tourney scheduled to start at noon. It will be four-person scramble (handicapped) and those over 70 years of age may hit from the senior tees. The fee is $100 per player and $400 per team.

First place prize is $1,500, second place prize is $1,000, third place prize is $800 and fourth place prize is $400. The Hole in One Prize is a 2021 Kawasaki Mule valued at $10,568, sponsored by Tuttle Outdoor Power.

George Farms Wild Bill Pumpkin Fun Run Nov. 7

It’s almost time for the first ever Wild Bill’s Pumpkin Fun Run on Saturday, Nov. 7 at George Farms, 595 Mobile Home Alley in Poteet. Funds raised will go towards the cost of a Diabetic Alert Dog for Billy George, the son of Jennifer and James George. You can register at RunSignUp.com and search Wild Bill’s Pumpkin Fun Run. Fees are $30 for the 5K Run/Walk, $25 for the Virtual 5K and $25 for the 10 and Under 5K.

Runners are also able to sign up the day of the race, with registration starting at 7:30 a.m. The race will start at 8 a.m.

Bring the family and enjoy games and other activities during the day, as well as food vendors like The Backyard Kitchen and San Antonio Treat Factory.

City of Poteet Drive-Thru Resource Event

The City of Poteet will host a free Drive- Thru Resource Event on the Poteet Strawberry Festival grounds on Saturday, Nov. 7. The public is invited from 10 a. m. to noon to see the many resources available to help them. Please enter the main entrance of the grounds and follow the road to visit vendors. Social distancing will be practiced and masks worn. It is asked that you stay in your vehicle and simply drive- thru. Sign up for Little Miss Merry on Main Pageant

The Little Miss Merry on Main Pageant will be back this year, as part of Merry on Main 2020 on Saturday, Dec. 5. The pageant will take place on the Main Stage at 10:30 a.m.

The event will be open to Atascosa County girls ages 7-10 and is sponsored by the Woman’s Club of Pleasanton. Dress attire is Sunday’s Best. All contestants shall wear masks.

American Legion Veterans Day Fundraiser Nov. 14

The community is encouraged to help save the American Legion Post 436 from closing its doors. The American Legion relies on rentals of its hall for the bulk of its funding. The pandemic has greatly impacted rentals.

A Veterans Day Fundraiser is set for Saturday, Nov. 14 at the American Legion, 1404 Zanderson Ave. (Highway 16) in Jourdanton. Dance to the music of Brad Jenschke and Neon Ranch from 8 p.m. to midnight. Entry is $10 per person. The dance is BYOB and masks and social distancing will be required.

Raffle tickets and items will be on display at the dance.

A barbecue brisket and sausage plate sale will follow on Sunday, Nov. 15, with to-go plates from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plates will include potato salad and beans and are $10 each. Presale barbecue tickets can be purchased at The Good Health Store or Clearwater Pool & Spa in Pleasanton, The Other Shot Glass or State Farm Insurance- Jeff Chicoine in Jourdanton.

Nov. 20 deadline to be part of the River Park Wonderland

The Pleasanton River Park Wonderland Christmas Tree Trail is coming back. The Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department and Merry on Main Street is excited to have the community come together to create this joyful Christmas display for families and friends to enjoy.

City of Poteet Holiday Home & Business Decorating Contest

Do you have a festive home or business? The City of Poteet invites you to participate in the first ever Holiday Home and Business Decorating Contest.

One winner will be chosen from each category: Residential- Most Traditional, Best Overall and Best Griswold Award; Businesses Best Store Front Display, Most Traditional and Most Creative.

Applications to enter can be picked up Dec. 1-Dec. 15 at Poteet Library or City Hall. Winners will be announced on Monday, Dec. 21 live on Facebook.

Enter Merry on Main Gingerbread House Contest

If you would like to participate in the Gingerbread House Contest at Merry on Main, fill out the preregistration form by visiting merryonmain.org/ forms and turn it in to entertainment@merryonmain.org or to the Pleasanton Civic Center, located at 115 N. Main St. Deadline to enter is Nov. 20. There is a youth category (ages 5-15) and an adult category (16 and older).

Show off your skills in these categories: Most Creative, Most Delicious Looking, Largest Structure and Most Festive.

Be a part of the Merry on Main Night Parade!

The Merry on Main Lighted Christmas Night Parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, starting at 7 p.m. Local groups and organizations are invited to join in the fun and participate in the parade. Parade forms are available online at merryonmain.org under the “Forms” section. Deadline to turn in your form is Nov. 25.

Mask/face coverings shall be worn by all participants before, during and after the parade. This includes those riding on floats, walking or within vehicles. Event organizers encourage all participants to make their masks part of the parade entry as long as masks are functional.

Parade entries will begin lining up at 5 p.m. starting on Stadium Drive and judging will start at 6 p.m. The parade route will be different this year to allow more space for spectators.

Poteet Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 4

Celebrate the Christmas season on Dec. 4, when the City of Poteet will host its 2nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting from 6-8 p.m.

Enjoy a visit from Santa Claus, music from the Poteet High School Band, food trucks, Christmas caroling, arts and crafts vendors and some surprises, too.

Also, arts and crafts vendors applications are still being accepted. A permit with the city is required. The $30 fee can be obtained at city hall. Pick up the application at the public library.

Vintage in Verdi

Mark your calendars for the 8th Annual Vintage in Verdi outdoor market, Dec. 4-5.

There will be over 80 vendors bringing their antiques, vintage items, retro items, hand-crafted pieces, homemade, artisan and unique wares. Come join them and get in the holiday spirit with delicious food, coffee, hot chocolate, live music, free kids crafts and so much more.

Poteet Grange Christmas display planned

Poteet Grange will once again sponsor the Christmas display on the Poteet Strawberry Festival grounds on Highway 16.

They are looking for businesses, churches, organizations and families to participate. These should be put up the last week of November or the first week of December and taken down shortly after Jan. 1.

Christmas in Charlotte Parade Dec. 5

The 2020 Christmas in Charlotte event has been cancelled due to COVID-19, but the annual Christmas parade is still happening and is set for Saturday, Dec. 5.

This year, the City of Charlotte will be holding a Decoration Challenge: Christmas Winter Wonderland. Deck out your trailer, vehicle, etc. for the chance to win the Most Christmas Spirit for 2020.

The Christmas Story on Dec. 5

A live production of “The Christmas Story” is coming to The Plestex screen 1 on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Come celebrate the reason for the season. The event is produced by Hurley’s Actors and Players and directed by Bob Hurley and Lucinda Vickers.

Merry on Main 2020

Get ready for Merry on Main Street 2020, Friday- Saturday, Dec. 4 and 5 in Pleasanton. It will be the largest Christmas event in Atascosa County, located in downtown Main Street in Pleasanton.

This Christmas festival for all ages will include a free Kid Zone, ice slide, lighted parade, Pale Rider Memorial Firework Show, Talent Show, Santa visits, live music, Ballet Folklorico dancers and more. The streets will be lined with strolling carolers, the Grinch, food trucks and shopping.

New this year is the “Merrier on Main” after party and dance with Brad Jenschke and Neon Ranch performing at the River Park from 9 p.m. to midnight. This will be a ticketed event in an attempt to keep it from getting over crowded. Tickets will be $10 at the door. Limited table seating. Thermal checks will be performed upon entry. Vendors and alcohol sales will be present at the concert.
