Voter registration drive

Atascosa County Democrats have launched a series of voter registration drives throughout the county hoping to encourage all citizens to exercise their right to be heard. On Aug. 22 they will be set up in Jourdanton at the Rock House, at 2102 Zanderson Ave., from 6-8 p.m.

The registration forms are very simple to fill out and you can sit and fill them out at the booth in case you have questions or you can take it home to complete and then drop them in the mail, postage paid, or take them to the Atascosa County Elections office in Jourdanton, 914 Main St., #115. Or event organizers will be happy to turn them in at the County Elections Office for you. It won’t take but a few minutes to complete the form and you should receive a voter registration card in the mail in a few weeks.

All citizens 18 years and older are eligible and those young people who will be 18 on Nov. 3 are also eligible. They will also have mail in-applications for ballots available for those who are eligible. If you don’t know if you are registered in the county, go to www.register2vote.org to check. Remember that in Texas, online signatures are not valid so checking the box to register to vote when you renew your license online does not mean you are registered.
