Painted rocks to benefit Atascosa Animal Allies

Bring some art to your life, while showing your support for Atascosa Animal Allies at the same time.

The Gypsy Moon Market, located at 107 S. Reed St. in Pleasanton, is selling beautiful rocks painted by Carola Barcomb. All proceeds go towards Atascosa Animal Allies, a non-profit organization that enhances the quality of life for Atascosa County animals by providing vet care, fostering and placing in forever homes.

Zaffirini to host ‘Back to

School?’ forum Aug. 12

Senator Judith Zaffirini (TX-21) will host a live Zoom forum on Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. The topic is “Back to School? Your Questions, Answered!” Senator Zaffirini has scheduled this Zoom due to the numerous questions raised during the last forum which focused on the health aspects of reopening our schools in the fall.

Wild Bill’s Pumpkin Fun Run in November

Online registration is open for Wild Bill’s Pumpkin Fun Run set for Saturday, Nov. 7.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the cost of a Diabetic Alert Dog for Billy George, son of Jennifer and Jimbo George. The Fun Run will take place on the family’s farm, George Farms in Poteet.

Racers will run the course thru the pumpkin field. Pick out your pumpkin on the way, but remember you have to carry it to the finish. There is a $35 entry fee.

Runners receive an event T-shirt, pumpkin, medal and apple cider at the finish. Sign Up by Oct. 1 for a discount and for bonus swag the day of the event.

Sponsorship spots are also available. A Virtual Run is also an option.

Due to COVID-19, racers will start in waves of 10, spread out approximately 15 seconds apart. Stay tuned for current county recommendations on masks at event.

Immunization Clinic at Poteet ISD Office

On Tuesday Aug. 18 and 25, the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Christus Health Immunization Clinic will provide vaccines at no cost from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Poteet ISD Office, 1100 School Dr.

This clinic is for Medicaid, uninsured and underinsured children in Poteet ISD, ages 18 and younger.

Please note that an appointment is required. Please call 210-954-3764 to set up an appointment or if you want more information. Consent and screening packets are available at the nurse’s office.

Pleasanton Census Days

Make sure you are counted in the United States Census 2020. Every response matters.

Pleasanton Census Days are set for Aug. 20 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pleasanton Public Library.

Census representatives will be available to help you fill out your form, fast and easy.

This event is co-hosted by the Pleasanton Express, Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and Pleasanton ISD.
