Benefit Plate Sale for Ethan Nuncio May 16

A benefit plate sale will be held for 3-year-old Ethan Nuncio on Saturday, May 16. Proceeds from the benefit will go toward Ethan’s medical expenses for his upcoming open heart surgery this summer.

Ethan is the son of Roxanne and Fernando Nuncio of Charlotte who was diagnosed prenatally with congenital heart disease. To date, he has had three open heart surgeries.

The plate sale will be held at Iglesia De Dios located at 21 Barnes Ave. in Charlotte for to-go and curbside only from 11 a.m. until sold out. Plates are $9 and will consist of BBQ chicken, charro beans, potato salad, sausage, bread, drink and pickles/onions.

You may purchase tickets ahead of time by contacting Roxanne at 830- 570-4706. They are accepting PayPal, CashApp and Apple Pay payments.

A GoFundMe Account has also been set up for Ethan to help with medical expenses, medicines, home medical equipment and hospital stay for his surgery.

Poteet Senior Parade May 16

The City of Poteet and parents of 2020 Poteet seniors have come together to host a Senior Parade for the Class of 2020 seniors this Saturday, May 16 starting at 6:30 p.m.

All seniors participating will be lined up alphabetically. The parade will start at Poteet High School and make it’s way through the neighborhood streets so that residents may celebrate the seniors from the comfort of their front yards while practicing social distancing.

If you plan to park in an open space, please be sure to not block anyone’s driveway, businesses or streets.

Atascosa Co. Republican Party Conventions

The Atascosa County Republican Party Precinct Conventions will be on Saturday, May 23. They will convene at the Community Christian Church located at 12487 TX-16 in Poteet with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The Atascosa County Senate District 21 Conven- tion will convene at the same location starting at 10:30 a.m.

The Atascosa County Senate District 19 Convention will convene at the same location at 1 p.m.

The Texas State Republican Convention will be on July 16-18. It will convene at 9 a.m. on July 16 at the George R. Brown Convention Center at 1001 Avenida de las Americas in Houston.

Charlotte Senior Parade May 29

The City of Charlotte and 2020 senior parents are inviting everyone to come out and celebrate the accomplishments of the Charlotte High School Class of 2020 in a Senior Parade on Friday, May 29, at 7 p.m.

Seniors will line up on Wilson Ave. next to the Charlotte Volunteer Fire Station and follow a fire truck through town.

Friends and family are encouraged to show their spirit with banners and posters all while being mindful of COVID-19 recommendations by the CDC and Gov. Greg Abbott: groups of less than five people and practicing social distancing of at least six feet apart.

Pleasanton Library opens

The Pleasanton Library welcomes everyone back. They reopened on May 4. Library hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday- Friday.

They will remain closed on Saturdays until further notice. The public computers will not be available to the public until further notice. The study rooms will also not be available for use.

Patrons are still able to check out books, make copies and send faxes. Social distancing will also be enforced.

The staff can’t wait to see all of your smiling faces.

Museum reopens

The Longhorn Museum also reopened on May 4.

Interactive exhibits, the train and depot will remain closed for now. One household group not exceeding 10 members will be permitted to tour at a time.
