Free Summer Program for kids June 14

The City of Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department recently began its free, 12 Week Summer Program for kids.

The next program is on Thursday, June 14 and will feature soccer training at the Pleasanton River Park, sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America. Please note registration starts at 8:30 a.m. for this event.

Free Family Movie Night in Jourdanton

The Atascosa Family Crisis Center and City of Jourdanton have teamed up for Free Family Movie Night this Friday, June 15. Start showing up about 7:30 p.m. to find a spot at the Jourdanton Sports Complex off Champion Drive (behind Jourdanton City Hall.

Bring the family for a free, family-friendly movie “Mercy Rule” starring Kirk Cameron. Enjoy free drinks and snacks while supplies last. No alcohol is allowed, as this is a family event.

Dress comfortably and cool. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks if you wish. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and come out for a night under the stars.

Living Water Fellowship Rummage Sale June 16

Living Water Fellowship will hold a Rummage Sale this Saturday, June 16 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The event will take place at 773 Kelly St. in Poteet. Funds raised will benefit their Kid’s Camp.

Trailblazer at Poteet Library & Charlotte Library

The Trailblazer traveling science exhibit will be at the Poteet Public Library on Tuesday, June 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Wednesday, June 20, the Tocker Foundation will bring Trailblazer, an interactive museum on wheels to Charlotte Public Library.

This semi-truck will provide students of all ages engagement in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) for school and potential careers in STEM for the future. The event will be open to students from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Basketball-Arama on June 23

The Navigators of South Texas invite the public to their 6th Annual City Tournament on Saturday, June 23. The event will take place at the Pleasanton High School Gym from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The 5×5 double-elimination competition is for a maximum of 10 teams. There will be free food and drinks available and the event is open to the public.

Prizes will include trophies, T-shirts and NBA balls. There is an entrance fee per team to cover all costs. Those with questions may call Bob Byrd at 210-896-5525.

Cowboy Fellowship VBS

Venture onto an uncharted island where kids are rescued by Jesus! Cowboy Fellowship will host Shipwrecked VBS  June 25-29 from 6-8:30 p.m.  Kids from age 3 to 6th grade will be anchored in the truth that Jesus carries them through every storm in life.  There will be Bible stories, Tropical Treats, worship songs and lots of fun games, too.
