Volunteers needed to help with Thanksgiving meals

The Main Street Outreach tradition will continue as volunteers team up to prepare a free Thanksgiving Dinner for the elderly, homeless and low-income families in Atascosa County. Organizers are looking for volunteers to help at the Pleasanton High School Cafeteria on Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. to prepare the food and on Thursday, Nov. 27, from 5 a.m. until about 12 noon, to serve and deliver

Thanksgiving meals and to clean up. Contact Jane at 830-719-3491 for more details.

ACCEPT sign up November 30-December 6

Jeanne Ulrich and the ACCEPT committee are once again gearing up to make this year’s project another successful one for Atascosa County. Atascosa County residents in need of food and/or toys for Christmas are asked to apply. To be eligible, you cannot be receiving these items from other agencies or groups in the county. Please see article on Page 1B for dates and locations to apply. Signup begins November 30 and ends December 6.

Atascosa Santa Sightings

There are lots of Santa sightings throughout the first week of December. Highlights are featured here with further details in the Living Section.

Free photos with Cowboy Santa. Round up the kids for photos with Cowboy Santa, November 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cattleman’s Vet Supply. Open House will take place December 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with food and door prizes.

Free Santa photos, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, will be held December 5.

“SGT Santa Project” sponsored by The American Legion will be held December 5 at 6 p.m. A meal will be served, Santa will be onsite and a live auction will be held to support their non-profit organization. Auction items, volunteers and sponsors for food are needed. If you are interested in making a donation or helping, please contact the American Legion office at (830) 770-0201

Lighted Christmas Parade sponsored by the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Posse will be held December 5. Come and see the horses and festive lights at the annual parade that kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Entries can be picked up at the Pleasanton Express. For more information contact Debbie at (830) 569- 5656. Christmas Parade, Live Music, Fireworks in Charlotte. The 2015 Christmas Night Parade in Charlotte will be held December 5 at 6:30 p.m. A Christmas Celebration from 2 p.m. till 1 a.m. will be held at Davenport City Park with live music and a fireworks display at 10 p.m. All money raised will go to benefit Davenport Park! Christmas Village

The 2015 Christmas Village is taking shape and we are placing an area wide Casting Call. Parts are still available. This casting call includes you as well as your friends and your Church group that you bring with you to share in the fellowship.

Come to the Poteet Strawberry Festival grounds to the Rotary Building between 7:00 and 8:30pm Tuesday, 24th of November or any evening November 31st through Thursday, Dec 2nd until the performance.

This years presentation of Christmas Village will be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday December 4th, 5th, and 6th.

Participate in Reindeer Bucks

Christmas is just around the corner and that means that it’s once again time for Reindeer Bucks. The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and area merchants have joined forces to encourage shopping at home. $500 will be given away by the chamber and 24 participating merchants are giving away $25 gift certificates. Sign up and play at any merchant listed on the full page ad on page 8B.
